In the spirit of Earth Day, we decided to help Mother Nature feed the birds! First, we took advantage of a break in the rain and headed next door on a hunt for some pine cones.

We were able to get 3 nice sized pinecones each to turn into yummy birdie treats! Mommy, tied some pretty ribbon to each pine cone and then gave us each a bowl of peanut butter, a plastic knife and a pan to catch the extra seeds.

After we mastered holding the pine cones and ribbon, it was time to spread on some peanut butter to act as glue to hold the birdseed to the pine cones.

All DONE!

Nice work!

Next, since it was Earth Day we found it appropriate to do a project that involved using recycled materials...a lemonade jug and a Coke bottle! Mommy pre-cut a few holes for us to push our wooden spoons through the containers. It took some muscle, but we were able to get the job done!

Amelia is carefully fishing the end of the spoon through the second hole.

Next, was the fun part...pouring seed!

Amelia's finished bird feeder! Well done, Miss Amelia!!!

James bird feeder turned out great too! He really had to use his muscles to hold it up, it was very heavy with all of that seed inside!

Happy Earth Day to our feathered friends and to our wonderful planet Earth!
(Maybe we can snap a picture of some birds feasting on our treats! Stay tuned!)
