Dancin' the Day Away!

Joshua's Mommy, Heather found out a little free fun on Fridays at a neighboring town. So, we headed over with our lunches packed, blankets ready and dancing ribbons nestled in our bag.
Today's musician sang very silly songs that got our toes-a-tappin'!
Dance, step, wiggle, wiggle, step... now jump!

"The Wheels on the Bus.... "

"Hey, that's my favorite song!!!"
Wow, that was fun listening to live music just for kids!

Spray Park Fun!

Spray Park
Today, we went to new place to explore called the Spray Park. There were many cool things the sprayed water EVERYWHERE!!!
Surprisingly, Amelia took awhile to warm up to the idea of getting splashed with water by other kids and water fountains. Eventually, she started to venture to one of the smallest water geysers I've ever seen. Amelia finally adjusted to being soaked and had a great time playing with everyone. And in grand Amelia fashion (more recently) she started to drink out of the small puddles on the ground! YUCKY!!!!

Lauren and I had so much fun going back and forth to the two water areas and blasting water out of this water cannon. OK, maybe blasting water at each other was not appreciated by either one of us. Sorry Lauren!

Just Chillin' With a Good Book

OK, so Mommy was being a wuss (she says she needed to catch up on housework) about the heat outside, so Amelia and I thought we would "chill out" with a good book or two.
Come on Mommy, weren't you complaining a few months ago that the winter was never going to end????

Practicing in Our Fancy Shoes!

Today, we put on our new "fancy" shoes that we will be wearing for Christopher and Ginny's upcoming wedding. We also practiced walking down our makeshift isle aka the hallway!
I think we did a pretty good job!
OK, so Saturday we have to do this if front of hundreds of people???

(Yes, that is my flower girl dress that I will be wearing for the big day!)

WIPE OUT! (The TV show)

Well, last night Amelia surprised us once again with a burst of new words adding to her expanding vocabulary. Last night's new word was " Mama, volume please."
First, I should add that Amelia was upset when I switched that channel from Wipe Out, so we turned back to the show and she was thrilled. OMG! Then, she was still dissatisfied so she asked (slightly demanded) me turn the volume up! I nearly fell off the couch (maybe from pure exhaustion from no sleep the night before), I couldn't believe my ears. This little girl knows and understands the world a lot more than I give her credit for.
Later on Grandma Judy and Papa came over to take Amelia for the night so I could care for James. Shortly after they drove away, Grandma Judy called me to let me know that Amelia was asking where is the "movie" in the car! They picked her up in Grandma Judy's truck (without a DVD player) not Papa's truck which has a DVD player.
So, the moral of the story...
time to turn off the TV!!!
(Please excuse the messy house!)

Sorting Fun!

UPDATE...
James officially caught the nasty stomach bug that Amelia had over the weekend. He is really sick. He is currently snuggled next to me on our bed, feeling rather warm, looking very pale and making interesting noises with his little tummy. Poor little guy. I hope tonight will be uneventful for him and his stomach.
This afternoon, while James was taking a much needed rest on Mommy and Daddy's bed, Mommy remember a sorting activity that she read in a book a while back so she thought we would give it a try. We already had the awesome the ABC Peek-a-Block set out and had the Roll-a-Round balls handy, all we needed was a circular container and a squared container to sort the rounds/circles from the blocks/squares. It was fun, especially when I stuck my foot in the bowl to make all of the balls roll around and fly out.
After our closet cleaning the other day, we found some toys that we haven't played with in quite awhile. The last time I tried to put the blocks in the holes on top of the container I struggled and quickly grew frustrated, but now I can put all of the blocks in the correct holes without any help!

A Saturday Afternoon

This afternoon, we enjoyed just hanging out in the backyard. Very early this morning, Amelia woke up with a terrible stomach bug. She ended up getting sick 4 times throughout the night.
Poor baby girl! She seemed to be feeling OK throughout the day, so we played with the water table. Later, Aunt Jill came over to hang out while Daddy and Uncle Jim went to Christopher's bachelors party. Just before she arrived, Amelia unfortunately got sick again!
Amelia made it through the night without any problems. Let's hope the worst is over!

Happy Belated Birthday Liz!

Yesterday was Liz's birthday, so today we did a mini-celebration with a song and a mini- birthday cake! Make a wish!!!
"This cake is yummy!"

Before we sang to Liz, we played the with our water/sensory table. Mommy added the bucket filled with small pebbles collected from the beach last week. We had a blast scooping and dumping shovels of the pebbles. I wonder what it might be like if we added some water to the table next time???
Also, we had a lot of fun running around in the yard. Lauren and James enjoyed
playing "Venture", James was the king and Lauren was a princess. Our Moms were a little confused with the name of their made up game, but then realized that they might have been trying to say "adventure" game.

Let's Plant a Garden!

This morning we went to Grandma Judy and Papa's house to plant our vegetable plants in their large garden. We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and green peppers. Daddy and I just planted a tomato plant. Today was the first time James and I as well as Daddy planted a garden! We had a lot of fun! After you dig a hole, you stick a plant in and carefully shovel dirt around it. Then, every plant needs lots of water to help it grown! James carried the heavy cans of water to each plant and slowly poured water on them.

Great watering James!!

I think playing in the mud is the best part of gardening!!!
Stay tuned for update pictures of our blooming vegetable garden!

Illinois State Beach

Illinois State Beach
Today was perfect day to spend at the beach.

Here are a few things you can do at the beach:
Playing in the sand.

Burying our feet in the sand.

Picnicking on the beach.

Feeding the seagulls our leftovers from lunch.

Throwing rocks into the lake.

Picking out pebbles that are stuck between our toes.

Thanks Nana for another fun Thursday adventure!

A Picnic at Old McDonald's?

Today, we decided to meet up with Joshua and Heather at the castle park. Our play date that included the Z Family was cancelled due to all of them coming down with an icky stomach bug. We hope they all feel better soon! So, we changed our plans just a bit and headed over to a park that was a little closer to our homes. We had a nice running. sliding and swinging at the park. We even got to play in the sandbox again.
After the park we were ail set for a picnic lunch, until our Mommies started to crave a "coke product" exclusively from Old McDonald's.
So, the photo shown above was a snapshot of our "picnic" at the double arches!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!

Today, we picked up Daddy a little early from work and took him to Great America to celebrate his birthday!
Today, was the first time that James took me on some of the rides that made Mommy and Daddy a little nervous. They didn't know how I would handle riding on them. Don't worry, as you can plainly see, I had a blast on all of them!!!

This was the first time James went down the large tube slide on the pirate ship in the Wiggles World!

We lost count of how many times we went on the "Bone" ride!

"Ding, Ding" Here she comes!!!

Around 6:45pm we headed back to the car (which was parked in the first row of the parking lot) and left for a yummy dinner at the Olive Garden. Later, when we returned home we sang Happy Birthday to Daddy, ate some chocolate cake and opened presents. This year we gave Daddy a Wii Fit, a red plastic race car that uses balloons to make it go and an American flag. (James picked the car and he really wanted to get Daddy "a flag".

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!!

We Love You VERY, VERY MUCH!!!
